Moe New Life began when God called Lyle and Annette Potts and their family to move from Bendigo to Moe in April 1969. The first Sunday service was held in the RAOB (Buffalo Lodge) hall on 20 October that year.

From Moe, churches were planted across Gippsland and outreaches launched in Tasmania and Canberra. Every era has been marked by healing, innovative outreach and passionate overseas mission.

The growing assembly purchased the RAOB hall in 1974 and began transforming it for God’s purposes. Pastor Lyle and Annette moved to Canberra in 1978, and Barrie and Lyn Ryan—foundation members of the assembly—continued the work.
Richard and Marian Chetland led from 1983 until 1998, followed by John and Trish Ellerton, an interim ministry by Pastor Dudley Cooper, and the return of Barrie and Lyn Ryan in 2001. Pastor Glenda Noordam, with husband Joe, led from 2013 to the start of 2026.
