Located at 1/3 Clifton St, Moe, Moe New Life Op-Shop sells quality items at an affordable price. Mostly second hand, but also some new items. ALL clothing comes freshly washed and ironed ready to be worn. All other items are cleaned and scrubbed as required.
The Op-Shop was founded in 2012, is staffed by volunteers, and is open 9 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday, except for public holidays.
The Op-Shop supports the Murle Education Foundation, a not-for-profit established for the purpose of bringing education, to children of the Murle tribe living as refugees in Africa.
The Murle people are indigenous to South Sudan in Africa. They comprise one of a number of tribes that make up the population of this recently formed nation that separated from Sudan, which was formerly the largest country on the African continent.
Many of the Murle people are now refugees living in a United Nations camp in Kenya. They have no work or income and are reliant upon the UN to provide them with food and other essentials. Children in the camp receive little or no education and as a result will, in most cases, grow up illiterate. In recognition of the very real need to educate these children, the Murle Education Foundation Inc. (MEF) has been established with the purpose of bringing quality education to as many as possible. Although beginning with small numbers, students at primary and secondary school level, as well as college, are being sponsored. At college level MEF will only support young men and women who will enrol in courses that will directly benefit their communities, such as teaching, medicine, nursing, agricultural science and trades.
